Healthcare Jobs booming in UAE

Despite all the job cuts taking place in different sectors across the country, recent reports suggest that the healthcare industry is booming in the UAE. The market has a number of positions in clinical and clinical support roles and is likely to see a steady growth in the coming years thanks to the large public and private sector collaboration in place.

According to the latest Monster Employment Index, the healthcare industry is offering the most jobs right now and has seen a 60% increase in October over the same period the year before.

The demand for medical professionals has been going up over the past few years and authorities are developing strategies to generate manpower to keep up with the growing needs of the sector.

Reports highlighted that Dubai in particular anticipates welcoming more than 500,000 medical tourists by 2020 and generating Dhs2.6 billion in revenue. The current demand is coming from existing hospitals and with the opening of new ones in the near future, more jobs are expected to be added to the market.

The Monster Index also found that despite a slowdown in the jobs market, the Middle East is witnessing a rising need in serving the GCC healthcare sector.

A report for the November 2015 data for professionals working in this field found that job opportunities continue to soar, reaching 36% year-on-year growth, in addition to the industry itself recording a 20% year-on-year growth in terms of job posting.

Also recently, The DHA launched the Dubai standards of healthcare for respiratory care. This move will see DHA train more than 700 physicians across the private and public sector to ensure unified protocols are followed, ensuring that once the professionals are on board they receive the right training.

The move is aimed to promote unified management of respiratory diseases for patients in Dubai. This means that all healthcare providers in the emirate, both private and public, will follow the same standards of care for patients with respiratory problems.
