UAE sees 34% increase in healthcare jobs

Recent reports have highlighted that jobs in the healthcare sector in the UAE have grown at 34% year-on-year in October 2015 as compared to the same period last year. The number is all set to soar in the coming years as the country sees a growing demand for medical tourism.

According to the Ventures Middle East Onsite report, the UAE is building more than 20 hospitals to care of the half a million medical tourists that are expected by 2020, with medical revenues to hit US$300 million by 2016. While the healthcare market across the GCC countries is projected to grow at 12% a year to reach US$69.4 billion by 2018. Effective healthcare hiring is in place in order to achieve these plans.

Also recently, Aster DM Healthcare announced the launch of seven new clinics that will be located in Khalidiya – Abu Dhabi, Dubai Marina, Al Barsha, Arabian Ranches, Al Khail, Abu Hail and Al Qusais. This announcement will certainly boost healthcare employment in the country and this move signals a rapid demand for healthcare professionals in the region.

At the recent Healthcare Recruitment and Training Fair at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the Ministry of Health was present to hire specialists and consultants and announced that they will be bridging the manpower gap by establishing mechanisms for coordination between academic institutions and the labour market.

Further, the Ministry of Health announced that it has cancelled the six-month period required for health entities to conduct credentialing for licenses of doctors and people working in the UAE health sector. This new rule facilitates the fast movement of doctors and physicians to different health institutions, thus improving the overall healthcare services in the UAE. All these measures go on to indicate that both the public and private sector and working towards meeting the rising healthcare demands.
